Husband says he's surprised
AMRAVATI: Devisingh Shekhawat, husband of Pratibha Patil, said her nomination for the country's top post came as a big surprise. "If she becomes the country's first woman President, it would come as our 42nd wedding anniversary gift," he told TOI on Thursday. (Their wedding anniversary falls on July 7).
Pratibha Patil has immense faith in astrology and her father Narayanrao Patil too was an expert astrologer.

Citing an incident, Shekhawat said that an vedic expert had predicted that she would occupy one of the country's very prominent posts this year and "it seems that the prediction is set to come true." As Shekhawat hails from Chandrapur Khallar village in Daryapur tehsil near Amravati, Pratibha is considered as the daughter-in-law of Amravati.
Her political acumen was noticed by Sonusigh Anna Patil, a former MP, who was present at a meeting of Maharashtra Kshatriya Mahasabha held at Chalisgaon, in 1962, where Pratibha Patil delivered an impressive speech.
